Roman Nasirov vs. NABU: A Trumped-up case against Head of Ukrainian State Fiscal Service

Roman Nasirov

After months of stalling the investigation against Roman Nasirov, the National Anticorruption Beaureu has finally passed the case to the court. Preliminary court hearing was held on Nov. 27, 2017 in Kiev, and there were two major conclusions after the hearing concluded. The prosecution is obviously not ready for court, whilst the defense is confident of having unchallengeable proof of innocence of Roman Nasirov and just political reasons for the criminal case.

After the court hearing, Mr. Nasirov told the press that he is satisfied with the hearing and that he sees the court hearing as an opportunity to finally prove his innocence and to tell people why this whole investigation was nothing but a dirty political and populist campaign against him personally.

‘The evidence we have presented to the prosecution irrevocably demolish this Trumped-up case against me. There is no case, and never was. I am more than confident in the defense line’, - said Roman Nasirov.

‘This Trumped-up political investigation should have never happen. In my opinion, the hospital incident, the unsubstantiated detention, and the scandalous investigation afterwards was designed for one simple reason – to divest my ability for physical and legal protection’, - concluded the Head of Ukrainian Fiscal Service.
