No evidence against Roman Nasirov in court

Speculations are only evidence prosecution has in the case against Mr. Roman Nasirov, the Head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. Those were the opening arguments from Mr. Nasirov’s lawyers during preliminary court hearing on Thursday, Nov.27 in Kiev. The court hearing of Nasirov’s case will commence on Dec.7, 2017.

Mr. Nasirov’s lawyer stated that after seven months of investigation prosecutors presented no evidence against the Head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine.

‘What was prosecution’s message to the court? That Mr. Nasirov is capable of leaving the country. Most of people hold various opportunities. That does not mean we necessarily exploit those opportunities. Speculation as it is. But what are the facts? Mr. Nasirov did not leave the country, he stayed in Ukraine. That is the fact. We must base our conclusions on the facts only, not rumors’, - the lawyer said.
